Paying it Forward: The Impact of Community Support

CBS Inspiring Journeys Header

Jose Luis Aponte and Alis Orozxo came to the United States in search of freedom and opportunity, but the rising cost of living in Central Florida has placed a significant strain on their financial situation. As part of the ALICE population – Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed – they face the daily struggle of making ends meet while striving to provide for their growing family.

Our Community Baby Shower provided Jose Luis and Alis with the essential baby supplies and resources they needed to feel prepared as they begin their journey as parents.

Paying it forward, they graciously assisted other expectant parents in Central Florida by volunteering their time at our second Community Baby Shower the following day.

As they adjust to life in Central Florida, we hope to continue offering our support to them and other families as they continue to build a life in our community.

By working together with our sponsors, donors, and volunteers, we’re building a stronger community that supports parents like Jose and Alis.
