In honor of Black History Month, Heart of Florida United Way invites you to a special community showing of the film “Know Your Place,” a deeply introspective film that illuminates realities in Central Florida’s not-so-distant past. Featuring prominent community voices like Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings, State Senator Geraldine Thompson, Former Ninth Circuit Chief Judge Belvin Perry, and more, “Know Your Place” shares the personal stories of Central Floridians who have faced racism, segregation, and bias throughout their lives.

Following the film, there will be a meaningful conversation to bring experiences seen on the screen into the reality of today. Experiencing this film with a young adult will allow for a meaningful shared experience and opportunity to learn from the past and help guide the future.

This is a free community event, but space is limited to a first-come, first-served basis. Central Florida Public Media and the Orange County Multi-Cultural Center in Pine Hills have partnered with HFUW to make this event possible.
