Each year during the holidays, we gather together with our loved ones around the dinner table, enjoying each other’s company and a delicious meal. We’ll share gifts and make new memories, enjoying all the season has to offer.
For many, the holidays are often a time to give back, an idea that is started when we’re just children. Remember adopting a family as a class or shipping a care package to servicemen and women overseas? The pride you put into choosing just the right items, the care you took in writing your note and the joy of shipping that package and knowing it would bring the gift of the holidays to someone who needed it.
Those gifts and letters made a world of a difference to those overseas, a long way from home. It gave them a sense of belonging, appreciation and encouragement.
And yet for many of our veterans, once they return from service and try to integrate back into civilian life, they no longer feel appreciated. Instead, they feel isolated, overwhelmed and alone.
This holiday season, we urge you to show you care and give the gift of opportunity. Your tax-deductible year-end gift can help a veteran feel appreciated and will pave the way for a better life.
Through our Mission United program, we will help veterans find stable employment, achieve a post-secondary degree, and establish a better life.
