Heart of Florida United Way: 85 Years of Building a Stronger Central Florida

85 Years of HFUW

For 85 years, Heart of Florida United Way has been a constant source of support in Central Florida.  Founded in 1939, the same year World War II began, our goal has always been clear: improving the lives of individuals and families in need.

Together, we have weathered countless hurricanes, endured 18 recessions, stood united in the face of the Pulse tragedy, experienced a world-wide pandemic, and so much more.

Through it all, we have stood by our community by providing emergency assistance, emotional support, and vital resources. But we didn’t stop there. Beyond disaster relief, Heart of Florida United Way has been a leading advocate for our community’s access to education, financial stability, health, and basic needs. And in turn, we continue to build a stronger community by working to address the underlying issues that lead to food insecurity, homelessness, and mental health challenges.

We partner with local schools, businesses, elected officials, and organizations to provide essential support to anyone who calls upon us for help.

But these past 85 years are only the beginning of our journey.

Will you LIVE UNITED with us in these next 85 years? What will your contribution be?
